At 8:00 am this morning, my amazing wife S1 gave birth this this little guy.

You can call him CJ.

Despite a long sleepless night, he arrived in good health, weighing in at 3.4KG (7lb 8oz).

I’ll never forget that first moment when he appeared in the world.

S1 had had a hard time, so not long after birth she handed him to me while she was sorted out.

I held him against my skin, unable to take my eyes off him.

Instantly there was a change in my life.
I started this day with the welfare of one person being my top priority,
and then suddenly there was two.

I sat with them both all day as long. But by 5 the sleep deprivation meant I had to head home. Having watched over them as they both slept today, it was suddenly my turn to get some rest.

Leaving the two of them at hospital was one of the hardest thing’s I’ve ever had to do.
Yet I still have a smile on my face knowing this is how I left them.

Welcome to the world CJ.
Welcome into our hearts.

It’s no secret that I love a good chart,
So when S1′s contractions started I took the job of plotting the contractions to a slightly obsessive level.

My prediction model says sometime after midnight things will get really serious.

It looks like the waiting game may be over and now the hard work begins.

5 years on, my laptop finally needed replacing.

Technology has moved on a lot in that time.

For day to day use, there isn’t much difference, but when I start processing photos this is lightening quick.

And the screen is amazing.

5 years was a good innings, but right now I’m over the moon with the upgrade.

On the way home tonight I felt suddenly grown up.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before, but I met this wonderful girl of mine all the way back at high school.
I suppose its your typical teenage love story.

We were just kids back then, we both had our dreams, but those dreams happened to fit together perfectly.

15 years on, 8 different homes, 4th different cities, 15 different jobs,
and suddenly we are about to be 3.

A world away from where we first met… literally.

I feel a little grown up,
But one things for sure, I love this girl of mine more than ever.

It’s been a busy spring,
this is the first time all years I’ve found time out with the setting sun.

I was early, so watched the birds come home to the lakes and the goslings playing on the shore and in the shallows.

Eventually, the light started to drop and venus popped out of the blue,
then mars, then stars, then constellations.

The water was completely still, mirroring the sky amazingly.

The sound of settling geese filling the air.

It was long overdue.

I asked S1 what she wanted to say tonight.

I think it’s good just to have a record of bump,

We can look back in a year, or in two. Who knows where we will be by then… but we will have two year old in tow.

I couldn’t have said it any better myself.

The 38 week milestone. We now are into waiting mode. Bump isn’t even here yet and our lives are already changing.

A milestone indeed.

Caught up with these great friends today as they were down from up north.

A fun brunch at a local cafe. It was great to catch up.

They are such a lovely couple and it was amazing to see them looking so happy together.

He moved north a few months ago and while we miss him dearly, it’s clear that being together has done them both the world of good. They work so well together I’m not sure how they lived apart for quite so long.

The NCT group went out for a curry night last night.

It was a great night, although the bar bill was as much as the food which is a worry when the girls weren’t exactly having their share!

Needless to say, the port they are all holding may have ended up with the other halves.

I’ve wanted this bump shot for a while now, but the rain stood in the way.

I think it’s the first real bump shot we have. It’s lovely.

The first from our NCT group had a lovely baby boy today. I think that’s made S1 realise the ‘due date’ is only a guide (last nights geekery apparently hadn’t done the trick). Needless to say, the baby hospital bag was packed tonight.

I’ve just had a text from home. One I knew would come but was dreading to get.

My Uncle Murry passed away peacefully yesterday.

My month experiment of being positive ended last night, I’m sort of glad it did, as I don’t know what to say. As much as I could try to dress it up, news like this from home is always tough.

My youngest memory of Murry was visiting him in his shop and playing in some lamb fleece. It’s that happy memory I’ll hold on to.

My thoughts are with you Joy and family. Take care of yourselves.
